Events & Stop Press!
22/05 - From Bex:
Friday 18th May we had a photo shoot with the Rt Honourable David Cameron. He spent a lot of time with the group, discussing our trip, his own love of cycling, & his personal involvement with some of our charities. He seemed to be an incredibly warm, sincere & genuine person - quite unique for a politician!
I would like to thank In Stitches Embroidery (Carterton), for getting our polo shirts ready in time for the press release - they looked absolutely brilliant!
From Bex:
A BIG, BIG Thank You to Donna’s bosses at Oliver James Estate Agents – they have pledged a 4 figure sum towards our cause. I won’t repeat what I said out loud when I found out, but needless to say, I was shocked!

Bank Holiday Monday 7th May 07 – Save the Children fete - Carterton
Donna, my Mum, Dad & I battled with the elements, & ran a stall at the fete, & raised a fantastic £115.
We had been kindly invited by The Carterton Lions, to set up in the shelter of their big purple & yellow marquee. They even provided us with a mini marquee, & helped us to set it up & take it down!
Plus, the Lions have pledged a very generous donation towards our costs for the trip – THANK YOU Carterton Lions!
We all wore bright yellow T-shirts (donated by my Mum, which she had written ‘LeJog’ & our website all over). Whilst my Mum & dad did a brilliant job entertaining the already captivated children, Donna & I raced around the site, thrusting flyers into peoples hands, if they stood still long enough!
Our stall was mainly for the kids, where the quickest one to complete the Lands End to John O’Groats maze would win a really cool cycle helmet, or £25 to spend in GILES Sports, Toys & Cycles. The winner was Xanthe Wearing, from Carterton. It seemed to go down a storm, with my Mum’s mascot ‘Dilly the Duck’ attracting lots of attention (she wore the helmet!). Thanks to my Mum & Donna, cakes were made for the grown ups, whilst the kids got to dip into a very large sweetie bowl!
By the end of the day we were absolutely shattered, but had had a great afternoon talking to loads of lovely people.
A huge THANK YOU to Carterton’s residents & visitors. , for your generous support & words of encouragement.
A massive THANK YOU to my Mum, Dad, who not only ran the stall, but put up with my strops prior to the day!
As for Donna, well considering this was sprung on you at short notice, & your time could have been spent relaxing in the pub, you’re a STAR!
From Bex:
Oxford United Football Club has very kindly donated us a signed football shirt. We plan to auction the shirt at the end of the month, at a Sport Diners Club dinner. HOWEVER, make us a serious offer, & the shirt could be yours!
From Bex:
We are due to have an interview & piccys with the Oxford Mail on Friday 18th May. If your company would like to sponsor us, & be considered for a mention in that article, please contact us & we will see what we can do!
